Next-Generation GST Reforms to Usher in a ‘New India’: Agriculture Minister

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s implementation of next-generation GST reforms as a historic step that will bring positive transformation to the lives of 1.44 billion Indians.

Chouhan said that the vision announced by the Prime Minister from the ramparts of the Red Fort has now taken shape, opening the path of prosperity for every section of society.

Highlighting the significance of the decision, the minister said the reforms  passed unanimously by the GST Council  mark the beginning of a new era in tax policy. According to him, the move will benefit common citizens, farmers, youth, and small traders alike. “With this reform, the taxation system will become more simple and transparent, making business processes easier and giving fresh momentum to the country’s Ease of Doing Business,” he stated.

Calling it a festive gift to the nation ahead of Diwali, Chouhan emphasized that the reforms would free the public from tax-related complications while enabling farmers and small entrepreneurs to carry out their economic activities with greater ease. For the youth, he noted, the changes would open new avenues for jobs and entrepreneurship.

Chouhan underlined that the Modi government’s initiative goes beyond tax reform, serving as a catalyst to accelerate the vision of a ‘Developed India’. He remarked, “Under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, a series of pro-people decisions are being taken that are steering India toward self-reliance, progress, and global leadership.”

Describing the GST overhaul as a milestone in the country’s economic journey, the agriculture minister stressed that the reforms will not only strengthen India’s financial framework but also empower society at every level.

He concluded by saying that the next-generation GST reforms will guide India’s economic progress in the coming years, ensuring greater ease, prosperity, and happiness in the lives of its citizens.
