Maharashtra. Branded as ‘Apla Gromor’, the mega outlet will serve over 15,000 farmers across 25 villages, offering advanced agricultural services and digital farming solutions.
The landmark launch was graced by Arun Alagappan, Executive Chairman, and S. Shankar Subramanian, Managing Director & CEO, along with members of the company’s senior leadership team.
A Journey of Growth Since 2007
Coromandel forayed into rural retail in 2007 under the brand ‘My Gromor’. Since then, it has emerged as one of India’s largest rural retail networks, expanding beyond South India into Maharashtra. Encouraged by farmer support and the success of its quality products and services, the company now aims to double this network in the next two years.
At present, Coromandel operates 1000 company-owned stores across five states:
- 766 ‘Mana Gromor’ in Andhra Pradesh & Telangana
- 195 ‘Namma Gromor’ in Karnataka
- 23 ‘Namdu Gromor’ in Tamil Nadu
- 16 ‘Apla Gromor’ in Maharashtra
Through these centers, the company directly engages with 3 million farmers, supported by a workforce of over 5,000 employees who provide daily farm-level support and advisory.
Strengthening Digital Agriculture
Alongside its physical stores, Coromandel has launched the ‘My Gromor’ app, offering crop-specific advice, product pricing, and image-based pest and disease detection. With over 1 million users, the app already contributes to 15% of store sales. Farmers also benefit from transparent pricing, SMS updates, doorstep delivery, and IoT-based agri-advisory services.
Each Gromor center functions as a one-stop solution hub for farmers, providing bulk, specialty, and organic fertilizers, crop protection products, animal feed, farm machinery, soil and carbon testing, agronomy support, drone spraying, and even farmer insurance. On average, every outlet caters to 1,000–1,500 farmers across 10–15 villages.
A Digital Farming Demo Hub
The newly inaugurated Kashti–Shrigonda store will not only provide access to modern farm inputs but also serve as a demonstration hub for digital farming solutions. Farmers will be trained to use tools such as the My Gromor app, remote advisory, and image-based disease identification, empowering them with next-generation farming practices.
Leadership Speaks
On the occasion, Arun Alagappan, Executive Chairman, said:
“The launch of the 1000th Gromor store is a proud milestone in Coromandel’s journey. What began in 2007 as a small step has grown into the nation’s largest agri-retail network. These centers have become trusted partners for farmers, delivering timely, quality inputs, innovation, and personalized advisory. Our focus remains on strengthening this network further to enhance farmer productivity and income.”
Future Expansion Plans
Coromandel has also announced plans to open 20 more Gromor stores in Pune district, including five around Kashti. This expansion will deepen the company’s relationship with the farming community while contributing to rural prosperity and sustainable agriculture.
