Pusa Krishi Vigyan Mela 2026 to Begin on February 25, Showcasing the Future of Technology-Driven Farming

The much-anticipated Pusa Krishi Vigyan Mela 2026 will be held from February 25 to 27, 2026, at the campus of the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), Pusa, New Delhi. The three-day annual event is expected to attract thousands of farmers, agricultural scientists, startups, entrepreneurs, and students from across the country, offering a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange and innovation in agriculture.

This year’s theme, “Developed Agriculture – Self-Reliant India,” reflects the broader vision of transforming Indian agriculture into a more profitable, resilient, and technology-driven sector. The focus will be on promoting advanced crop varieties, modern farm mechanization, scientific crop management practices, and sustainable production systems to enhance farmers’ income and long-term agricultural sustainability.

Special Focus on Women Farmers and Rural Youth

In line with the International Year of Women Farmers, the 2026 edition of the mela places special emphasis on the participation of women farmers and rural youth. Women-led Self-Help Groups (SHGs) will showcase value-added agricultural products and grassroots innovations. Dedicated sessions on entrepreneurship development, value addition, agri-processing, and market linkages will be organized to encourage women and young agripreneurs to build sustainable rural enterprises.

Key Attractions of the Mela

The event will provide farmers with hands-on exposure to cutting-edge agricultural technologies and practices. Major highlights include:

  • Release and Sale of Improved Seed Varieties: Certified seeds of newly developed, high-yielding crop varieties bred by IARI will be made available to farmers.
  • Live Crop Demonstrations: Standing field demonstrations will enable visitors to observe the performance of improved varieties and advanced production techniques under real farm conditions.
  • Digital and Smart Farming Technologies: Exhibits will feature drone applications, Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based advisory tools, sensor-based irrigation systems, and smart farm machinery aimed at enhancing precision and efficiency.
  • Climate-Resilient Agriculture: Information on water-efficient crops, crop diversification strategies, and climate adaptation measures will be shared to help farmers cope with climate variability.
  • Government Schemes and Policy Support: Detailed guidance on central and state agricultural schemes will be provided to ensure better awareness and access to benefits.
  • Agri-Startup and Innovation Pavilion: Emerging agri-startups will present innovative products and solutions, opening new income avenues for farmers.

Participation and Registration

Farmers, students, agri-professionals, and other stakeholders from across India are invited to participate in the mela. Interested participants can register online, and detailed information is available on the official website of the Indian Agricultural Research Institute.

The Pusa Krishi Vigyan Mela 2026 is being viewed as a significant step toward accelerating technology adoption in Indian agriculture. By bridging research, innovation, and grassroots farming, the event aims to inspire a new era of smart, sustainable, and self-reliant agricultural growth.
