Keeping pond water clean and healthy during the rainy season is crucial for fish farmers. Rain can easily pollute pond water, often turning it green due to excess weeds and algae. To maintain a healthy environment for fish to grow well and stay disease-free, experts strongly recommend using lime and cow dung in ponds during this season.
Why Lime and Cow Dung Matter
Healthy fish growth doesn’t rely only on good feed and medicines the quality of pond water is equally important. If pond water stays clean and free from harmful weeds or pollutants, fish grow faster, stay healthy, and fetch better prices in the market.
Key Reasons to Use Lime and Cow Dung
- Controls pollution: Lime neutralises harmful acidity and balances water pH.
- Improves water quality: Cow dung promotes healthy plankton growth, which is a natural food source for fish.
- Prevents diseases: Healthy water conditions reduce the chances of fish getting infected.
