Koppert has introduced Limonica Ulti-Mite, a patented innovation that marks a major step forward in sustainable pest management. The new solution brings together the highly effective predatory mite Amblydromalus limonicus and Koppert’s most advanced Ulti-Mite slow-release sachet technology, offering growers a reliable and long-lasting defense against thrips and whitefly.
Unlike traditional bottle applications, the Ulti-Mite sachet provides a continuous, controlled release of predatory mites over a period of 4–6 weeks. This ensures steady protection during critical crop stages and reduces the need for frequent reapplications. The sachets are made from 100% industrial compostable foil, which creates an optimal microclimate that stabilizes humidity, supports mite reproduction, and sustains performance even in challenging conditions.
Koppert’s decades of expertise in large-scale biological production have made it the only company capable of producing Amblydromalus limonicus at consistent commercial volumes, reinforcing Limonica Ulti-Mite’s position as a unique and dependable solution.
Amblydromalus limonicus stands out for its high predation rate, rapid reproduction, and ability to target multiple life stages of thrips, including the difficult second instar larvae. This results in earlier, stronger, and longer-lasting suppression compared to many other predatory mite species. The mite’s broad target range also provides effective control of whitefly, making it a versatile tool for integrated pest management (IPM).
Field trials—most notably in Spain against Thrips parvispinus—have delivered promising results, underscoring the product’s value in managing invasive thrips species. With proven performance across a wide temperature range, including cooler climates down to 14°C, Limonica Ulti-Mite offers growers consistent, year-round protection.
With this launch, Koppert strengthens its leadership in biological crop protection, providing growers with a powerful, environmentally responsible solution for modern horticulture.
