A large gathering of farmers, scientists and agricultural experts came together to explore the future of farming at the Mega Rythu Mela 2026, held at the campus of Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University in Hyderabad. The event was organised through a collaboration between Coromandel International Limited, PJTAU and the Department of Agriculture of the Telangana government.
More than 5,000 farmers participated in the programme, which focused on promoting sustainable agriculture, modern farming technologies and innovative solutions to improve productivity and farm incomes.
The event was attended by several key dignitaries including D. Anasuya Seethakka, Tummala Nageswara Rao and Duddilla Sridhar Babu. Senior representatives from the agriculture sector also participated, including Sankarasubramanian S, Mangi Lal Jat and Aldas Janaiah.
The mela served as an interactive platform where farmers could directly engage with agricultural scientists and industry experts. Participants were introduced to the latest advancements in crop nutrition, crop protection, improved seed varieties, precision agriculture and farm mechanisation.
A key highlight of the event was the live demonstration of drone-based crop spraying and other precision agriculture technologies. These technologies are increasingly being adopted to improve efficiency in farming operations and address labour shortages in agriculture.
Farmers also witnessed field demonstrations showcasing integrated crop nutrition practices that combine organic inputs, biological products, nano nutrients and specialty fertilisers. Experts explained how balanced fertiliser use can optimise the application of commonly used nutrients such as urea and DAP while improving soil health and crop productivity.
The event also included technology exhibitions and expert sessions on soil health management, climate-resilient farming and best agronomic practices. Agricultural specialists shared insights on how farmers can adopt sustainable cultivation methods while improving yield and reducing input costs.
Since the event was held around the time of International Women’s Day, special attention was given to the role of women in agriculture. Women farmers were recognised for their contributions, and discussions encouraged rural women and youth to explore emerging opportunities in agri-entrepreneurship, including drone-based agricultural services.
Speaking at the event, Sankarasubramanian S said that Telangana has emerged as a progressive state in adopting modern farming practices due to strong policy support and proactive farmers. He noted that platforms like Rythu Mela help spread awareness about balanced crop nutrition and new technologies such as drones, nano fertilisers and robotics in agriculture.
Coromandel International Limited, one of India’s leading agri-input companies and part of the Murugappa Group, continues to support farmers through innovations in fertilisers, crop protection products, specialty nutrients and agricultural advisory services. Through its extensive rural retail network and research centres, the company provides farm inputs and advisory support to millions of farmers across several Indian states.
The Mega Rythu Mela 2026 highlighted the growing importance of technology-driven agriculture and collaborative efforts between research institutions, industry and government to build a more productive and sustainable farming ecosystem.
