Ravi Kishan to Inaugurate ‘Zero-Budget’ Agriculture and Millets Gallery in Gorakhpur

A landmark day awaits farmers and agriculture enthusiasts in Gorakhpur as the state’s first “zero-budget” Agriculture and Millets Gallery is set to open at the Agricultural Bhawan in Chargawa. The inauguration will be performed by Member of Parliament and renowned actor Ravi Kishan at 12 noon on Saturday.

The gallery, established in the office of Joint Agriculture Director Dr. Arvind Singh, aims to celebrate agricultural innovation and promote knowledge dissemination among farmers. During the event, progressive farmers experimenting with new techniques, high-performing Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and officials successfully implementing government schemes on the ground will be felicitated.

What sets this gallery apart is its creation without a separate budget allocation, making it the first of its kind in the state. The Agriculture Gallery offers a visually engaging journey from traditional farming practices to modern agricultural technologies. Dr. Arvind Singh describes it as a “visual library” that showcases the achievements and advancements of Gorakhpur’s agricultural sector while helping farmers understand and adopt new methods.

Adjacent to the Agriculture Gallery, the Millets Gallery emphasizes the promotion of coarse grains, or “Shri Anna.” Visitors will learn about millet cultivation, seed varieties, and processing techniques. The gallery also provides insights into the nutritional benefits of millets for the general public. In line with the International Year of Millets observed in 2023, the department plans to facilitate sales of millet-based products at the gallery, encouraging access to chemical-free and nutritious food.

The dual galleries represent an innovative effort to blend education, awareness, and promotion of sustainable agriculture. By highlighting both technological progress and the importance of traditional grains, the initiative seeks to strengthen farmer engagement while promoting health and nutrition among the wider community.

The inauguration of the Agriculture and Millets Gallery is expected to inspire farmers, officials, and visitors alike, creating a platform where traditional wisdom and modern agricultural science converge for the benefit of the region.
