Swaraj Tractors has been honored with the prestigious Golden Peacock Award for excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), earning national recognition for its sustained efforts in driving inclusive rural development.
The award has been conferred for Swaraj’s “Integrated Village Development Initiative,” a comprehensive, community-driven program designed to deliver long-term and sustainable transformation across rural communities. Built on a participatory model, the initiative begins with detailed village-level assessments and active collaboration with local stakeholders to align development priorities with the real needs of rural households.
Over the past three years, the program has brought measurable socio-economic improvements across more than 30 villages in Punjab and Haryana. As part of its water stewardship efforts, over 15 village ponds have been rejuvenated, enhancing groundwater recharge and strengthening local ecosystems. Additionally, 23 rooftop rainwater harvesting systems have been installed in government schools, promoting water conservation and environmental sustainability.
In the education sector, the initiative has improved learning outcomes for more than 5,000 students across 30+ government schools. Through institutional strengthening and enhanced access to government welfare schemes, over 6,000 women have been empowered socially and economically. Furthermore, more than 2,000 women and persons with disabilities have received skill development training, enabling improved livelihood opportunities and financial independence.
Gaganjot Singh, CEO of the Swaraj Division at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., stated that Swaraj remains committed to advancing the well-being of the communities it serves. Inspired by the Mahindra Group’s purpose of driving positive change, the company continues to co-create inclusive and scalable rural development models alongside local communities. He emphasized that empowered communities form the foundation of sustainable rural transformation.
The Golden Peacock Award is globally recognized for honoring organizational excellence and transformative initiatives. Swaraj Tractors’ selection followed a rigorous evaluation process, underlining the scale, impact, and governance standards of its CSR interventions.
