VIRESTINA™ herbicide introduces a novel active ingredient, metproxybicyclone, specifically developed to control resistant grass weeds in key crops such as soybean and cotton. These weeds have become increasingly difficult to manage due to prolonged use of traditional herbicides like glyphosate, leading to reduced effectiveness over time. The new solution offers farmers a much-needed alternative, targeting resistant weeds while remaining safe for crops.
The innovation is being described as the first major advancement in selective herbicide technology for resistant grass weeds in nearly four decades. Developed using advanced predictive science and machine learning approaches, the product reflects a new era of precision agriculture solutions. Argentina has become the first country to approve and adopt VIRESTINA™, with commercial rollout expected to begin in 2026. The company is also planning to expand its availability to other major agricultural markets, including Brazil, Australia, the United States, and Canada, as regulatory approvals are secured. This phased global rollout highlights the growing demand for advanced weed control solutions across diverse farming systems.
Herbicide-resistant weeds are a serious global issue, currently affecting more than 100 crops across 75 countries.
