University of Guelph Climbs in 2026 QS World Rankings for Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences

The University of Guelph, one of Canada’s leading institutions for agri-food and veterinary research, has achieved significant gains in the 2026 QS World University Subject Rankings. The university posted strong performances in both Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Sciences, reinforcing its status as a global leader in food, animal health, and environmental research.

According to the latest QS assessment, Guelph advanced notably in key indicators such as academic reputation, employer feedback, and research citations—reflecting the impact and international relevance of its scientific output. The university’s long-standing strengths in plant science, soil management, agri-food innovation, veterinary medicine, and One Health research contributed to its elevated global standing.

Guelph’s Ontario Agricultural College (OAC) and Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) remain central pillars of its reputation. OVC, in particular, continues to be ranked among the top veterinary schools worldwide, supported by cutting-edge research in animal disease control, epidemiology, livestock welfare, and public health.

University leaders stated that the improved rankings highlight Guelph’s commitment to addressing complex global challenges, including sustainable food production, climate-resilient agriculture, zoonotic disease threats, and ecosystem stewardship. The institution’s expanding collaborations with government agencies, agribusiness firms, and international research partners further amplify its influence.

The 2026 rankings reaffirm the University of Guelph’s position as a premier destination for students and researchers pursuing careers in agriculture, food systems, and veterinary science—areas that are increasingly crucial to global food security and environmental sustainability.
