Farmers in the Rangpur region are celebrating a bumper maize harvest this season, with production reaching a record high. Favorable weather conditions, timely availability of quality seeds, and the adoption of modern farming practices have all contributed to the remarkable achievement.
Agricultural officials reported that maize cultivation expanded significantly across Rangpur, with thousands of farmers shifting towards the crop due to its high profitability and lower input costs compared to other cereals. The use of hybrid seed varieties, efficient irrigation methods, and increased access to government extension services further boosted productivity.
According to preliminary estimates, maize production in the region has surpassed last year’s figures by a substantial margin, making Rangpur one of the leading maize-producing zones in the country.
