The Uttar Pradesh government has launched its ambitious “Agriculture Vision 2047”, a long-term strategy aimed at transforming the state’s agriculture sector over the next two decades. The initiative focuses on modernizing farming practices, boosting productivity, and ensuring sustainable development.
The vision emphasizes technology-driven agriculture, including precision farming, digital monitoring of crops, climate-resilient farming techniques, and wider adoption of modern irrigation systems. It also seeks to strengthen supply chains, agro-processing units, and market access for farmers.
Speaking at the launch event, the state’s Agriculture Minister said, “Agriculture Vision 2047 is designed to make Uttar Pradesh a model for sustainable and profitable farming. Our goal is to empower farmers, increase their income, and make agriculture more resilient to climate challenges.”
Key components of the plan include promotion of high-yield and nutrient-rich crop varieties, enhanced use of farm machinery, water-saving technologies, and improved access to credit and insurance for smallholder farmers. The program also envisions investment in research and development, rural infrastructure, and skill development for agricultural youth.
Experts believe that Uttar Pradesh, as one of India’s largest agricultural states, can set a benchmark for the rest of the country by integrating modern farming methods with traditional practices. The initiative is expected to generate employment, increase farm income, and contribute to the state’s overall economic growth.
The government has stated that implementation will be phased, with pilot projects in select districts, followed by state-wide expansion. Partnerships with research institutions, agritech companies, and financial organizations will be a key part of ensuring the program’s success.
