The Union Government has approved the supply of an additional 40,000 tonnes of urea to Telangana to address the shortage of fertilizers reported during the ongoing crop season. The decision aims to ensure that farmers in the state receive timely support for their agricultural activities.
According to officials, the additional allocation will help stabilize fertilizer availability across districts where farmers had raised concerns over short supplies. The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers stated that the Centre is closely monitoring the demand and supply of essential nutrients to avoid any disruption during the critical sowing period.
Telangana is currently witnessing increased demand for urea due to higher sowing of paddy, cotton, and other kharif crops. With the new allocation, the total supply is expected to comfortably meet the seasonal requirement and reduce pressure on local markets.
State agriculture officials welcomed the move, noting that the Centre’s swift response would bring relief to farmers and help maintain crop productivity. Farmers’ groups have also expressed confidence that timely supply of fertilizers will support better yields this year.
