Bayer’s “Better Life Farming” Initiative Expands Rapidly in China, Reaching Over 150 Retail Hubs

Bayer Crop Science China has announced major progress in the expansion of its “Better Life Farming” (BLF) initiative, a program designed to strengthen last-mile agricultural services and improve direct engagement with smallholder farmers across China. Within just one year, the BLF network has grown from an initial 50 partner stores to more than 150 retail hubs, now covering several of the country’s key agricultural regions.

The milestone was highlighted during a national BLF partner meeting held in Hangzhou on December 16–17, 2025, where more than 100 BLF center owners gathered under the theme “Pioneering New Directions for Harvest.” The event focused on advancing high-quality agricultural input services and outlining the next phase of the program’s development.

The rapid expansion reflects the successful implementation of Bayer’s “Go-to-Market” strategy in China, centered on building decentralized service hubs through empowered local retailers. Under the BLF model, stores function as integrated service centers, delivering Bayer’s crop protection products, crop health solutions, seed treatments, and technical services directly to farmers, helping bridge long-standing gaps in agricultural support.

As demand grows for sustainable and precision farming solutions, BLF centers provide tailored, crop- and region-specific offerings. Bayer has integrated fungicides, insecticides, herbicides, seed treatments, and crop performance enhancers into a comprehensive solution portfolio. Newly introduced products, including the “De Lai” crop performance enhancer brand, are being rolled out nationwide through BLF centers, alongside upcoming launches in crop protection.

Beyond products, Bayer is enhancing retailer competitiveness through digital tools, marketing support, and service innovation. Integrated online and offline campaigns have significantly increased farmer engagement, while the DronePlus platform is enabling retailers to offer professional drone-based application services across millions of mu of farmland.

The BLF initiative also supports sustainable agriculture, with verified reductions in carbon footprints across multiple crops. As the program continues to scale, Bayer reaffirms its long-term commitment to China, positioning BLF as a key platform for empowering smallholder farmers, strengthening rural services, and supporting the modernization of Chinese agriculture.
