Punjab Agricultural University Joins BRICS Sustainable Agriculture Network

Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has become the only Indian agricultural institute to join the BRICS Network University for Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security, marking a significant step in global research collaboration. The inclusion allows PAU to engage in joint research, academic exchanges, and capacity-building programs with leading agricultural institutions across Brazil, Russia, China, and South Africa.

Through this partnership, PAU aims to contribute expertise in crop improvement, sustainable farming practices, and food security strategies, while also learning from innovations and research models adopted by other BRICS member countries. The collaboration is expected to enhance scientific knowledge sharing, strengthen training programs for students and researchers, and promote sustainable agricultural practices on an international scale.

PAU officials emphasized that the move aligns with India’s broader vision of fostering global cooperation in agriculture and leveraging cutting-edge research to address challenges such as climate change, resource management, and food security.

Experts note that PAU’s participation in the BRICS network could strengthen India’s role in international agriculture research and innovation, creating opportunities for long-term partnerships and technological exchange.
