Global Forum Highlights Rising Food and Water Security Risks Amid Climate Pressures

At the 2026 Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) in Berlin, international leaders and experts emphasized the growing challenges facing global food systems, particularly water scarcity and food security risks driven by climate change and resource pressures. The forum highlighted the urgent need for coordinated action to ensure sustainable, resilient, and equitable food production worldwide.

Participants discussed the increasing vulnerability of agricultural systems to climate variability, extreme weather events, and unsustainable water use, which threaten crop yields, livestock productivity, and food supply chains. Delegates stressed that safeguarding global food security requires investments in water-efficient technologies, sustainable land management, and climate-smart farming practices.

The forum also underscored the importance of international collaboration, innovation, and policy alignment to address these risks. Experts highlighted solutions ranging from improved irrigation systems and precision agriculture to data-driven monitoring of resources, enabling farmers and governments to respond proactively to environmental challenges.

Speaking at the event, several leaders called for a holistic approach that balances agricultural productivity, environmental sustainability, and social equity. They noted that food and water security are deeply interconnected, and that building resilient food systems is essential to supporting global nutrition and economic stability.

The GFFA 2026 discussions signal a heightened international focus on sustainable resource management and climate adaptation in agriculture, emphasizing that immediate, strategic measures are necessary to mitigate risks and ensure long-term food system resilience.
