Andhra Pradesh Sets Ambitious Paddy Procurement Target for 2025-26 Kharif Season

Andhra Pradesh has announced an ambitious target to procure 51 lakh tonnes of paddy during the 2025-26 Kharif season, aiming to support farmers and stabilize the state’s agricultural market. The government has emphasized streamlined registration processes and timely payments to ensure that the procurement drive benefits farmers efficiently and effectively.

The state’s agriculture department has introduced measures to simplify paddy registration, making it easier for farmers to enroll and participate in the procurement process. By leveraging digital platforms and automated systems, the government aims to reduce bureaucratic hurdles, minimize delays, and ensure transparent transactions between farmers and procurement agencies.

Timely payment of dues has been identified as a key priority. The state government has pledged to process payments promptly, reducing financial stress for farmers and enabling them to reinvest in the next cropping cycle. This approach is expected to boost farmer confidence, encourage higher production, and promote adherence to quality standards.

The ambitious procurement target reflects the importance of paddy cultivation in Andhra Pradesh’s rural economy. Paddy remains a staple crop for millions of farmers, and government procurement acts as a safety net, providing price support and stabilizing market fluctuations. By ensuring fair prices and reliable procurement, the state is safeguarding farmer incomes and contributing to overall food security.

Officials have also highlighted the role of quality assessment and storage infrastructure in the procurement drive. Proper grading, handling, and storage of paddy are critical to maintaining supply chain efficiency and preventing post-harvest losses. Investments in silos, warehouses, and transport facilities are being prioritized to strengthen the entire procurement ecosystem.

Farmers have welcomed the government’s proactive approach, noting that clear guidelines, simplified registration, and timely payments will help them plan their cropping strategies better. The assurance of a stable market for their produce is expected to encourage increased cultivation, leading to higher overall yields and economic benefits for rural communities.

The 2025-26 Kharif paddy procurement initiative in Andhra Pradesh demonstrates the state’s commitment to supporting agriculture and empowering farmers. By combining technology-driven processes, timely financial support, and robust infrastructure, the government aims to achieve its ambitious target while promoting sustainable growth and stability in the agricultural sector.
