Farmers Protest Urea Shortage in Peddapalli, Block Traffic for Half an Hour

Farmers in Dharmaram mandal headquarters of Peddapalli district staged a strong protest on Monday against the shortage of urea fertilizer, bringing traffic to a standstill for nearly half an hour on the Karimnagar–Rayapatnam road.

Farmers Confront Fertilizer Shortage

Local farmers from Kothapalli, Bommareddypalli, and Yerraguntapalli villages depend on the CSC fertilizer outlet at Dharmaram for their urea supply. However, when the shop remained closed on Sunday due to exhausted stocks, a large crowd of farmers gathered at the outlet the following day.

When organizers informed them that the government had not allocated fresh stock to the shop, farmers grew agitated and raised slogans against the state government, demanding immediate redressal.

Concerns Over Paddy Crop

The protesting farmers expressed fear that if the second round of urea application on their paddy crop is delayed, their entire investment and hard work could be ruined. They also accused agricultural officials of showing indifference toward their grievances.

Warning of Larger Agitation

Villagers warned that if urea supply is not restored promptly, they would be forced to intensify their agitation on a larger scale.

The protest highlighted the growing fertilizer distribution challenges in the state, with farmers demanding timely action to safeguard their standing crops.
