The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore has launched a new AgriHub Centre of Excellence (CoE) aimed at driving innovation and research in the agricultural technology sector. The initiative is part of a broader effort to bridge the gap between advanced technology and grassroots farming needs.
The AgriHubCoE will serve as a dedicated platform for developing cutting-edge solutions in areas such as precision farming, smart irrigation, drone applications, and data-driven crop management. It also aims to foster collaboration between researchers, agri-tech startups, and the farming community.
Funded under a national mission to promote technology-led growth in agriculture, the centre will also provide incubation support for startups working on sustainable and scalable agri solutions. By combining expertise from engineering, data science, and agricultural research, the hub seeks to accelerate the deployment of farmer-friendly innovations.
Officials from IIT Indore emphasized that the AgriHub will focus on addressing real-world challenges faced by Indian farmers, particularly in terms of productivity, resource management, and climate resilience.
This development positions IIT Indore as a key contributor to the evolving agri-tech ecosystem in India, supporting the national agenda for a modern and technology-driven agriculture sector.
