The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying (MoFAHD) marked the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi, under the global theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health” / “एक पृथ्वी, एक स्वास्थ्य के लिए योग”. The event showcased the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to wellness, balance, and a harmonious work environment.
The celebration saw enthusiastic participation from senior officials and staff members. Ms. Alka Upadhyaya, Secretary of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, and Dr. Abhilaksh Likhi, Secretary of the Department of Fisheries, led the occasion and joined colleagues in a special Yog-Sangam session dedicated to physical and mental well-being.
The participants began the day by watching the live telecast of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s address from Visakhapatnam, where he highlighted yoga’s relevance in achieving global health and harmony. Following the address, the attendees engaged in a guided yoga session, performing various asanas designed to boost health, focus, and inner peace.
The celebration aimed not only to promote yoga as a form of exercise but also as a transformative lifestyle aligned with India’s holistic health traditions. Officers and staff embraced the experience wholeheartedly, strengthening the Ministry’s culture of wellness and productivity.
MoFAHD’s field institutions and regional offices across the country also observed the day with similar energy and dedication. Yoga sessions, awareness activities, and community engagement programs were organized at the local level, making the celebration a nationwide affair.
Through such initiatives, the Ministry continues to align its administrative and community efforts with the principles of wellness, sustainability, and integrated health, fostering a balanced and inclusive approach for both people and the environment.
