
Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, will undertake a one-day visit to Chhattisgarh on 31 January 2026. During his visit, he will interact directly with farmers and review the progress of key agricultural and rural development programs with the state government.
High-Level Review Meeting with State Leadership
Minister Chauhan will hold a high-level review meeting at Mahanadi Bhavan, Naya Raipur, with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sahay, state ministers, senior officials, and elected representatives. The meeting will focus on the implementation of central and state schemes in agriculture and rural development, including the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), National Rural Livelihoods Mission, and initiatives in natural and organic farming. Discussions will also cover credit availability, agri-infrastructure development, seeds and fertilisers, and digital agriculture initiatives.
Field Visits and Farmer Interaction
Following the meeting, Minister Chauhan will travel from Raipur to Girhola and Khapri in Durg district, where he will participate in field visits, plantation programs, and direct engagement with farmers. He will highlight the benefits of flagship central schemes such as the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, National Agriculture Development Program, natural farming, and micro-irrigation (PMKSY) to encourage wider farmer participation.
In the afternoon, he will proceed to Kumhari, Durg, to attend a Farmer Fair organized by the Chhattisgarh Youth Progressive Farmers Association. During the event, he will discuss strategies for modern farming techniques, crop diversification, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), digital agriculture, and rural livelihood enhancement, with the aim of increasing farmers’ incomes.
Focus on Empowerment and Rural Development
During his interactions, Minister Chauhan will emphasize the direct benefits for small and marginal farmers under PM-Kisan, crop protection through the PM Fasal Bima Yojana, promotion of organic and natural farming, the use of drone technology, and the role of government programs in strengthening rural infrastructure and livelihoods. The visit will serve as a platform to reinforce the government’s vision of enhancing farmers’ incomes, promoting rural prosperity, and ensuring sustainable development of villages across Chhattisgarh and the country.
Through this visit, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan aims to chart a forward-looking roadmap for agricultural and rural development in Chhattisgarh, while strengthening collaboration between the central government, state authorities, and the farming community.
