World Food India 2025 Concludes Successfully, Strengthening India’s Position in the Global Agri-Food Value Chain

The historic World Food India 2025 concluded today at India Pavilion, Pragati Maidan, marking a milestone for the country’s food processing sector. Held from 25th to 28th September, the four-day event positioned India as a strong partner in the global agri-food value chain, attracting over 95,000 participants, making it the largest food and agriculture convergence platform in India to date.

The event was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the presence of Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev, Union Ministers Chirag Paswan, Prataprao Jadhav, and State Minister Ravneet Singh. In his address, the Prime Minister emphasized India’s role as a reliable global supplier, citing India’s agricultural diversity, growing middle-class demand, and government initiatives such as 100% FDI policy, Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, and Mega Food Parks, which are making India a key hub in the global food supply chain.

Under the PM Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme, the Prime Minister released credit-linked subsidies worth ₹2,518 crore for 26,000 micro-projects, empowering micro-entrepreneurs across the country.

During the summit, Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth over ₹1,02,000 crore were signed, marking one of the largest investment commitments in India’s food processing sector. The Ministry of Food Processing Industries also partnered with premier academic and research institutions like NIFTEM-T and NIFTEM-K to promote technology transfer, food fortification, nutraceuticals, and startup incubation.

A CEO roundtable, co-chaired by Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Chirag Paswan, witnessed participation from over 100 leading Indian and multinational company CEOs. Key discussions focused on sustainable investment, biodegradable packaging, waste valorization, blue economy opportunities, and logistics improvements to reduce costs and enhance competitiveness.

The event also hosted government-to-government (G2G) meetings with delegations from Russia, Sri Lanka, Morocco, Maldives, Portugal, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Eswatini, Côte d’Ivoire, and Kuwait, exploring new avenues for collaboration in agriculture and food processing.

Over 40 technical sessions covered areas such as pet food, nutraceuticals, plant-based foods, alcoholic beverages, and specialty foods. The Third Global Food Regulators Summit discussed digital risk management tools, public-private partnerships in food safety, and nutrition-led strategies.

Across four days, the summit facilitated over 10,500 B2B meetings, 261 G2G meetings, and more than 18,000 buyer-seller interactions, with total participation exceeding 95,000 people, making it highly impactful for both industry and the public.

During the event, the 24th India International Seafood Show was inaugurated on 25th September by Union Minister Chirag Paswan at Pragati Maidan. Organized by the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA), the show featured technical sessions, roundtables, and buyer-seller meetings to boost seafood exports.

The successful conclusion of World Food India 2025 has once again demonstrated India’s emergence as a global hub for food processing, innovation, and sustainable development, opening new avenues for investment and establishing India as a reliable and strong partner in the global agri-food value chain.
