Swaraj Tractors Achieves Historic Milestone of 2.5 Million Units Produced

Swaraj Tractors, a part of the Mahindra Group and one of India’s leading tractor brands, has announced the roll-out of its 2.5 millionth tractor from its Mohali manufacturing facility. This landmark achievement comes just three years after the company crossed the 2 million production milestone in 2022, cementing its position as the fastest-growing brand in the Indian tractor industry.

A Journey Rooted in Self-Reliance

Founded in 1974, Swaraj’s journey began with the launch of its first model, the Swaraj 724, in the 20–25 HP category. Notably, this was India’s first indigenously designed and manufactured tractor, born during the era of the Green Revolution. The name Swaraj, inspired by the spirit of freedom and self-reliance, reflected a bold step toward agricultural independence. Built by Indian engineers for Indian fields, Swaraj tractors became known for being rugged, reliable, and affordable.

Rapid Growth and Strong Presence

From crossing 500,000 units in 2002 to reaching 2.5 million units in just 23 years, Swaraj’s exponential growth highlights its deep connection with Indian farmers and its contribution to the nation’s agricultural progress.

The company’s portfolio today includes some of the most trusted models such as Swaraj 855, 735, 744, 960, 742, 963, Swaraj Target, and the recently launched “Naya Swaraj” series, offering a blend of performance, simplicity, and modernity.

Voices from Leadership

Commenting on the milestone, Vijay Nakra, President – Farm Equipment Business, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said:

“Swaraj’s achievement of producing 2.5 million tractors reflects the trust placed in the brand by generations of farmers. Born from the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat, Swaraj has been empowering farmers for decades, reinforcing our commitment to transform farming and enrich lives.”

Adding further, Gaganjot Singh, CEO – Swaraj Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., noted:

“For us, every Swaraj tractor is more than just a machine – it is a farmer’s companion in progress. With dependable performance, low operating costs, and farmer-centric solutions, Swaraj has always been closely connected with the farming community’s aspirations and challenges. This 2.5 million milestone is a proud moment and inspires us to support Indian farmers even more strongly in their journey toward prosperity.”

Deeply Rooted in Rural India

From the pride of buying a first tractor to the trust passed down through generations, Swaraj has become an integral part of rural India’s fabric. Its tractors continue to deliver value year after year across diverse terrains, making Swaraj not just a brand but an enduring partner in India’s agricultural story.
