Argentina’s Corn Exports Poised for Record Levels as Global Demand Strengthens

Argentina is emerging as an increasingly important supplier in the international corn market as strong overseas demand and changes in competing exporters’ availability create favorable conditions for its grain shipments. The country’s corn exports are projected to reach a record 10 million metric tonnes during August and September 2026, according to the information provided from Reuters.

The expected rise in exports comes alongside a strong domestic harvest and increased demand from international buyers. Argentina’s expanding presence in the global corn trade could influence shipping patterns and supply flows during the 2026–27 marketing season.

Strong Harvest Supports Export Availability

Argentina is expected to harvest around 71.7 million tonnes of corn, providing exporters with substantial supplies for international markets.

A large harvest gives Argentina greater flexibility to meet overseas demand while maintaining supplies for domestic users. When production exceeds domestic requirements, additional volumes can be directed toward export markets.

The availability of exportable corn is particularly significant at a time when international buyers are monitoring supplies from major producing and exporting countries.

Weather conditions, crop yields and domestic consumption will continue to influence the quantity of Argentine corn available for overseas shipment.

Disruptions in Ukraine Create Market Opportunities

Changes in Ukrainian grain shipments are another factor supporting Argentine corn sales.

Ukraine has traditionally been an important supplier of grains to international markets. Disruptions affecting its shipments can encourage importers to seek supplies from alternative origins.

Argentina is well positioned to benefit from such shifts because of its substantial production capacity and established grain-export infrastructure.

However, international trade flows can change quickly as shipping conditions, freight rates, production estimates and export policies evolve.

Brazilian Availability Also Affects Trade

Reduced export availability from Brazil is creating another opening for Argentine corn in international markets.

Brazil is a major agricultural exporter, and its corn shipments can have a significant influence on global supply competition. When Brazilian export volumes decline, buyers may increase purchases from other major suppliers.

Argentina’s strong harvest provides exporters with additional grain to meet this demand.

The resulting competition among suppliers will depend on crop availability, export prices, logistics and the purchasing requirements of individual importing countries.

North African Buyers Increase Purchases

Markets in North Africa are emerging as important destinations for Argentine corn.

Morocco, Egypt and Algeria are among the countries reportedly increasing imports. These nations rely on international grain markets to meet part of their feed and food requirements, making access to competitively priced corn important for their agricultural and livestock sectors.

Higher purchases from these markets could strengthen Argentina’s position as a reliable supplier and encourage further development of trade relationships.

Growing Importance in Global Corn Trade

Argentina’s expected export performance highlights the changing dynamics of the international corn market.

Global buyers increasingly monitor production and export availability across multiple origins to manage supply risks. A strong Argentine harvest allows the country to offer additional supplies when shipments from competing exporters face disruptions or reduced availability.

For livestock and poultry industries, reliable access to corn is particularly important because the crop is a major component of animal feed.

Changes in international corn prices can therefore have wider implications for feed manufacturers, livestock producers and food supply chains.

Outlook for Argentine Corn Exports

Argentina’s projected record shipments during August and September 2026 could mark an important period for the country’s role in global corn trade.

The combination of a 71.7-million-tonne harvest, strong international demand and reduced availability from some competing exporters is supporting Argentine sales.

Future export volumes will depend on actual harvest availability, international demand, freight conditions and developments in competing grain-exporting countries.

For global grain markets, Argentina’s growing export presence adds another important source of corn supply and demonstrates how changes in production and trade conditions in one region can rapidly reshape international agricultural flows.
