The NIDHI-Technology Business Incubator (NIDHI-TBI) at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) successfully organized a dynamic boot camp during the recently held Kisan Mela, providing a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs and agri-innovators to showcase their innovative, value-added products.
The boot camp highlighted a wide range of creations, including packaged juices, pickles, skincare and haircare products, water-milled (Gharat) flour, cold-pressed oils, millet-based items, vinegars, and vegetable powders. These products underscored participants’ commitment to sustainability, diversification, and value addition in agriculture.
Beyond product demonstrations, the event offered participants a hands-on learning experience, helping them refine marketing strategies and enhance sales techniques. The boot camp effectively spotlighted entrepreneurial talent while emphasizing the growing importance of innovation in strengthening the agri-food sector.
The program was guided by Dr. Ramandeep Singh, Principal Investigator of NIDHI-TBI and Director, School of Business Studies (SBS), PAU, and Dr. Poonam A. Sachdev, Co-Principal Investigator and Principal Food Technologist, PAU. Their mentorship provided participants with practical insights and critical knowledge to enhance competitiveness in emerging markets.
The initiative also encouraged farmers and entrepreneurs to explore new business opportunities, fostering an entrepreneurial mindset and motivating attendees to adopt innovative approaches for their agri-business ventures.
By bridging research, innovation, and market viability, the boot camp played a pivotal role in advancing entrepreneurship within the agricultural sector. The NIDHI-TBI team, including Mr. Gurinder Singh, CEO; Mr. Sameer Gautam, Business Manager; and Ms. Pallavi Kalyan, A&EO, actively engaged with farmers, addressed queries, and promoted the mission and objectives of the incubator.
As NIDHI-TBI continues to empower budding entrepreneurs and agri-tech innovators, initiatives like this boot camp contribute significantly to building a sustainable and prosperous agricultural future. The event’s impact is expected to inspire more farmers and entrepreneurs to embrace innovation, enhance the value of their produce, and strengthen India’s agricultural economy.
