Zhejiang Zhongshan Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd. (Zhongshan Chemical) has achieved another important milestone in technological innovation, as four independently developed pesticide synthesis technologies have successfully passed provincial-level industrial new product and new technology appraisal and acceptance. The approved technologies cover the synthesis of saflufenacil, bentazone, pyroxasulfone, and fluxapyroxad, and were recognized as reaching a leading technical level within the industry.
The appraisal marks a significant validation of Zhongshan Chemical’s long-term investment in research and development and highlights its strong capabilities in process innovation, raw material optimization, and green manufacturing. Each of the four technologies demonstrates distinct technical advantages, including improved synthesis routes, enhanced production efficiency, and reduced environmental impact, reinforcing the company’s competitive position in the global agrochemical supply chain.
As core outcomes of the group’s R&D strategy, these technologies further consolidate Zhongshan Chemical’s expertise in the synthesis of high-value and technically demanding active ingredients. The successful appraisal reflects authoritative recognition of the company’s innovation strength and its sustained focus on advancing pesticide manufacturing technologies.
Zhongshan Chemical already holds a strong market position in several key products. The company currently operates a bentazone production capacity of 8,000 tons, ranking among the leading producers globally. In October 2025, its subsidiary Inner Mongolia Zhonggao Chemical announced a technical renovation project for a 500-ton saflufenacil active ingredient facility, signaling continued capacity upgrading and process optimization.
In parallel, Zhongshan Chemical is accelerating its global registration and formulation certification strategy. Active ingredients such as fluxapyroxad and pyroxasulfone are progressing through international regulatory approvals, with multiple registrations expected to be completed in phases. This coordinated approach supports the company’s ambition to expand its international market presence and supply higher-quality products to global customers.
The successful appraisal of these four synthesis technologies underscores Zhongshan Chemical’s role as a technology-driven enterprise and highlights the growing innovation capability of China’s pesticide industry. Through continuous R&D and industrial upgrading, the company is well positioned to support sustainable agriculture and meet evolving global demand for advanced crop protection solutions.
