California Adopts New Sustainable Pest Control Technology

California farmers are increasingly adopting TerraTrap, an innovative non-toxic ground squirrel control system that has emerged as a promising solution for sustainable pest management. After receiving recognition at the 2026 World Ag Expo, the technology is gaining rapid acceptance among growers who are looking for environmentally friendly alternatives to traditional chemical-based pest control methods.

Ground squirrels are among the most destructive agricultural pests in California, causing significant damage to orchards, vineyards, vegetable fields, and irrigation systems. Their burrowing weakens soil structure, damages farm equipment, destroys crop roots, and creates safety hazards for livestock and machinery. Controlling these pests has long been a challenge for farmers, many of whom have relied on chemical rodenticides despite growing concerns over their environmental impact.
