Global Crop Science Conference in Delhi Highlights Innovation and Sustainability

The 22nd International Crop Science Conference & Exhibition (ICSCE 2025) has concluded in New Delhi, drawing delegates from across the globe for a deep dive into sustainable farming, cutting-edge agrochemical research, and digital innovation in agriculture.

Organized by the Pesticides Manufacturers & Formulators Association of India (PMFAI), the three-day event brought together more than 30 countries, with participation from leading scientists, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and agri-business leaders.

With the theme “Sustainable Crop Protection for a Food-Secure Future,” the conference emphasized the need for responsible innovation in agriculture amid rising environmental concerns, pest resistance, and the increasing demand for higher food output.

A key moment at the event was the PMFAI Annual Awards Ceremony, recognizing outstanding achievements in green chemistry, bio-based pest control, and advanced formulation science. Honorees included both Indian and international firms working on eco-friendly pesticide solutions and biodegradable inputs.

PMFAI President Pradip Dave opened the event by calling for stronger collaboration between public institutions and private innovators. “India has the potential to become a global center for agrochemical innovation not only in production but also in sustainable science and research,” he stated.

The conference featured over 20 sessions covering topics such as:

  • Regulatory trends in global pesticide registration
  • Advances in biopesticides and nano-formulations
  • Food safety and residue management
  • Integration of digital tools in crop protection

Speakers highlighted how technologies like artificial intelligence, precision spraying, and remote sensing are changing the landscape of pest management. Several Indian startups demonstrated platforms that provide farmers with data-driven insights on when and how to apply crop protection products, reducing both cost and environmental impact.

Sustainability remained a core theme throughout the event. Panelists stressed the importance of farmer education, responsible chemical usage, and compliance with global safety standards. Exhibitors showcased innovations such as drift-reducing spray equipment, climate-adaptive packaging, and internationally certified eco-friendly inputs.

International delegates also explored trade opportunities with Indian manufacturers, particularly in regions like Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Africa, where demand for reliable crop protection products is growing rapidly.

As ICSCE 2025 concluded, the consensus was clear: sustainable crop protection is no longer optional—it is central to achieving food security, climate resilience, and rural prosperity. By promoting innovation, knowledge exchange, and global cooperation, the conference reinforced its role as a key platform for shaping the next chapter of agricultural science.
