Karnataka Farmers to Hold ‘DevanahalliChalo’ Protest on June 25

Farmers from various parts of Karnataka are preparing to launch a large-scale protest under the banner “DevanahalliChalo” on June 25. The demonstration is aimed at drawing attention to growing concerns over land acquisition, agricultural distress, and government inaction on key rural issues.

Organized by several farmers’ unions and grassroots groups, the protest will converge in Devanahalli, a rapidly developing region near Bengaluru that has seen increased industrial and infrastructure projects in recent years. Farmer leaders allege that fertile agricultural land is being acquired for development projects without adequate compensation or proper rehabilitation for those affected.

Participants are also expected to raise issues such as delayed crop insurance payouts, lack of irrigation support, and increasing input costs, which they say are placing heavy burdens on small and marginal farmers.

The organizers have urged the state government to hold talks and address their demands before the protest date. They are also calling for greater transparency and fairness in land acquisition policies, alongside more support for sustainable agriculture.

Security arrangements are expected to be stepped up ahead of the protest, and authorities are closely monitoring the situation. The event could become a major flashpoint if talks between the farmer groups and the government do not progress in the coming days.
